Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

Sunday, November 8, 2020

It it not lost on me that the holidays this year may look different or even be completely non-existent for some. My family is still hoping to have a small get together for Thanksgiving, but of course, that could quickly change in the next few weeks. In years past, I've usually dressed up for Thanksgiving, but honestly, my standards have gotten lower and lower with each month of 2020 that passes. 😂 So there's no telling what I'll show up wearing this year.

This dress comes in a ton of colors and would be a great holiday option!

No matter what kind of Thanksgiving you're having this year, these four looks are guaranteed to keep you cozy and comfy while you stuff your face. Keep scrolling to check them out!

Easy Halloween Costumes

Sunday, October 11, 2020

I've always enjoyed dressing up in fun Halloween costumes. When I was a kid, I would plan my costumes months in advance. Some of my most memorable Halloween costumes were Disney's Esmerelda (I think I was 5, and I was OBSESSED), an 80's Valley Girl (I was in high school and my girlfriends and I nailed the looks), and when my sister and I dressed up as Sonny and Cher (guess who was Sonny #bowlcut).

Not sure what your Halloween plans entail this year, but who says you can't dress up even if you're just partying at home. I've rounded up some simple costumes that are easy to throw together and won't cost you a lot of time or money. In fact, you may even have some of these pieces in your closet already!

Keep scrolling to check them out and maybe even see some spooky photos from Halloweens past! 😂

Hope you've enjoyed this little Halloween walk down memory lane! I love to go all out with a solid costume, but I also sort of love the challenge of making a costume out of pieces I already have. Bonus points if I can make it a couples thing and force Greg to participate!

Hope you guys have something festive and safe planned for Halloween. Send me all of your best costume ideas.

XOXO,
Abby

July 4th Favorites

Wednesday, June 10, 2020

The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays! I just love summer days spent on the lake with family and friends. So far this year, holidays have been strangely different. But, Lord willing and the creek don't rise, we're planning on heading to the lake to hang out on my family's boat (thanks to the gracious invite of my Aunt and Uncle) just like we have several years before and catch the fireworks show at the boat dock!

Swim Top / Similar Necklace / Similar Shorts

I've put together a July 4th tab on the blog with tons of patriotic outfit options for whatever your holiday plans may be!

Keep scrolling to check out a few of them now, but definitely check out the tab later for more ideas.

Patriotic Masks / Straw Boater Hat / Gingham Bow Slides / Red Linen Dress / Pom Pom Bikini / Popsicle Tank / Button Fly Shorts / Tie Dye Tank / Heart Shaped Sunglasses / Watermelon Crossbody / Star Sneakers / White Overalls / Striped V-Neck / "Oh-My-Stars" Ball Cap / White Denim Skirt / Straw Tote

Galentine's Day with Pink Lily

Saturday, February 1, 2020

Say what you will about Valentine's Day being invented by the candy companies, but I LOVE IT! I've always been a sucker for cutesy gifts and romantic gestures, so Valentine's Day is right up my alley.
And even more so than Valentine's Day, I love GALENTINE'S DAY!

via GIPHY

If you're not familiar, Galentine's Day is a holiday made up by Leslie Knope (not a real person) on Parks and Rec (TV show that you must watch). It's usually celebrated on February 13th and spent with all of your best gal pals. I don't know about you, but I've honestly always gotten WAY better Valentine treats from the women in my life than I have from any men - nothing surprising there. I specifically remember a year in college when I and most of my roomies were single. We got each other more gifts - cards, flowers, dinner at The Cheesecake Factory - that year than any of our coupled friends got, and I enjoyed every second of it. Until I almost threw up from eating too many chocolates...

Today, I'm partnering with The Pink Lily Boutique to share two cute and casual looks that would be perfect for a Galentine's Day date. And I'll also give you some fun ideas on ways to spend G-Day with your BFFs!

Tee / Similar Cardigan / Similar Jeans / Similar Booties

Sweater / Similar Jeans / Similar Hat / Similar Booties

13 Galentine's Day Ideas:

1. Head to brunch...preferably somewhere with bottomless Mimosas, obvi!
2. Get massages! I've been dying to go to this spa in Nashville, but Greg will never go. Where my Galentines at???
3. Mani/Pedi's
4. Grab coffee and then go shopping
5. Take a day trip somewhere new
6. Send flowers
7. Pizza and Rom Com Night
8. Get blowouts and hit up happy hour
9. Go to a workout class together and dinner afterwards
10. Get tickets to a concert
11. Visit a winery
12. Catch the latest chick flick at the movies (and share a vat of popcorn)
13. ALL OF THE ABOVE?!?

fun galentine gift ideas

Do you and your girlfriends do anything special for Valentine's Day? Maybe this could be the year to start! It doesn't have to be anything extreme. Just let your besties know you're thinking about them! Hope you have a sweet little holiday, no matter how you celebrate it!

XOXO,
Abby

What to Wear to a NYE Party!

Wednesday, December 18, 2019

I've always had such dreams of attending a fancy New Year's Eve soirée, but alas, I never really have. Most of my NYE's past have either been spent at a casual event with friends or better yet, in my pajamas on the couch (which honestly sounds like the best way to celebrate amirite?).

So no matter what your plans are this year, I've rounded up 4 looks that will hopefully inspire an outfit for however you're ringing in the new decade!

Keep scrolling!

Last year, we went to a 90s cover band concert in Nashville and then had breakfast at Monell's after midnight. The year before that, Greg and I got in the worst fight we've ever been in 😂 (story for another day), and the year before THAT, we had a pajama party at our house.
All of the NYEs before that are a bit of a blur, but I know they've always been spent surrounded by friends and family.

I can't remember how I rang in 2010, the first year of this decade. But I'm excited to start the new one, even if it's on the couch in my jams. Maybe it's the fact that I'm in my late 20s, but starting a whole new decade seems to carry a lot more weight than it did in 2010.

Praying for a prosperous and blessing-filled decade, for myself, and for each and every one of you! Can't wait to see where we're all at this time in 2029!

XOXO,
Abby

His & Hers Stocking Stuffers

Sunday, December 8, 2019

As I stated in last year's Stocking Stuffers post, my mom always filled (and continues to fill) our stockings with awesome stuff. I always considered filling stockings such a mom thing to do (meaning you only do it for kids), so for the first few years of our marriage, Greg and I merely hung stockings in our house for decoration.
However, I made a goal last year to stop neglecting our stockings. I'm still not to the point where Greg's stocking is completely "stuffed" yet, but I have a fun time finding neat little gadgets and goodies that I think he will like.

Coffee Warmer / Necklace Layer Clasp / Trouser Socks / Puppy Mug / Cam Jam / Aldi Quarter Saver / Donut Eyeshadow Palette / Keyboard Vacuum / Beauty Blenders / Lightning Cable Frog / Champagne Shower Gel / Rechargeable Lighter / Lump of Coal Soap / Survival Pocket Tool / Digital Luggage Scale

Do you and your significant other fill each other's stockings?
What are some of your favorite things to give and receive in a stocking?
Let me know in the comments section below!
Happy Stuffing!

XOXO,
Abby

Casual Holiday Looks with Maurices

Monday, December 2, 2019

I LOVE dressing for the holidays, but I've found that there's a fine line between a little holiday glitz and looking like Kat and Garth.

Subtlety is usually best.

Luckily, Maurices is killing the holiday attire game. They have pieces to fit everyone's style, size, and budget. And the best part is, a ton of it is on sale today for Cyber Monday!

Keep scrolling to check out some of my favorite holiday looks from Maurices.
And don't forget to check out the Holiday Fashion tab on my blog that I'm consistently updating with more great holiday styles.

Stripes, leopard, plaid, and glitter...these are a few of my favorite things!
This reversible scarf and striped mock neck top were two pieces I knew I couldn't pass up. A black and white striped top is truly a great closet basic to have during every season. It's a perfect base for all of your layers and great for pattern mixing.

My 10-year-old self is so stoked that faux leather is BACK. I vividly remember the pair of silver pleather pants I wore on my first day of 4th grade. But, I digress...
These faux leather leggings are a "pull-on" style with an elastic waist, but they fit a bit more like regular pants. Dress them up with heels and a lace top, or keep them low-key like I did with a cable knit sweater and booties.

Lumberjack...but make it fashion.
In love with this plaid shirt/jacket! It's so perfectly oversized (in fact, I sized down to a small) and cozy. Now you don't have to steal your husband's favorite flannel anymore!
I paired it with a holiday graphic tee and duck boots for an outdoorsy look, but I can picture it worn with a band tee, faux leather leggings, and cool sneakers.

What's your favorite way to dress for the holidays?
Let me know in the comments section below.

XOXO,
Abby
